Descriptions of the Mansion, Bedrooms and Grounds
Our Location
The Winthrop Estate is located at 101 Yokun Avenue in Lenox, MA on a residential street. Guests can walk to downtown Lenox (it's about a half mile), where they will find galleries, restaurants, shops, the Lenox Library, the post office, a small grocery store, etc. More details on Lenox and the surrounding attractions are here.
The Mansion (about 14,000 square feet)
First floor formal rooms: Expansive foyer, wood-paneled library with fireplace, wood-paneled dining room with carved marble fireplace, chamber music room with Steinway grand piano and beautiful marble fireplace, light-filled conservatory with mountain views, ninety-foot verandah with awning overlooking the ‘great lawn’
Additional first floor rooms: Butler’s pantry, kitchen, office.
Second Floor: Twelve Bedrooms (see below for additional details).
Third floor: Game room with ping-pong table and foosball, massage room, media room, exercise space, kids’ play space and a full bathroom.

*Air Conditioning/Heat: All bedrooms have air-conditioning and heat
*Antique English Soaking Tubs: Most of our bathrooms have large antique English soaking tubs where guests often enjoy long, hot, bubble baths.
*Gardner Mattresses: The Gardner Mattress Corporation hand makes their mattresses. We have had them customize mattresses to our specifications.
*Hair driers are located in each bathroom.
*Frette Linens: Founded in 1860 in France, Frette is a leading provider of luxury linens to the finest hotels and homes worldwide.
*Hermes: Hermes amenities are stocked in each bathroom.
*Nickel Fixtures: Nickel fixtures were installed in the bathrooms by the owner of this estate when it was built in the 1920s. Most of those original fixtures are still in use today and add a rare charm to a stay at the Winthrop Estate.
*Wireless Internet: WiFi is available throughout the mansion.
1) Lindsley Suite

F.A.Q.
- Is it really as special as people say? Yes.
- Does the estate allow children? Handicapped? Yes, and with enthusiasm. All ages.
- Can I rent the estate for just my wedding or my wedding photos? No, we are only available for rent to families for month-long residential rentals. We'd be happy to recommend wonderful picturesque venues for single-evening events or single-day rentals.
- How many guests are able to stay at the Winthrop Estate at one time? Twenty Five (25)
- Does the Winthrop Estate allow smoking? Outside.
- Can guests bring a well-behaved dog or small pet? Though we love pets and they are permitted on the grounds, no pets are allowed in the mansion. We can help find a comfortable home for them offsite.
- Where is the nearest airport? We are 1 hour from Albany, NY (ALB), 1 1/4 hours from Hartford, CT (BDL), 2 1/4 hours from Boston, MA (BOS), and 3 hours from New York City (LAX)
- Where is the nearest airport for a private jet? We are 15 Minutes from Pittsfield (PSF).
- Who was the celebrity who rented the estate for ten nights? What Grammy Award Winners have hosted events here? Our lips are sealed.
